Founders Doyin and Hannah, are onto a winner, with every event swiftly running out of tickets the moment the Eventbrite link is posted on twitter. Clearly when we aren’t travelling, we love nothing more than to meet up with new and (now familiar!) faces to talk about our variety of experiences and memories we’ve collected while seeing the world.
If you compare it to the beast that is the African American travel movement, the black British travel movement still has some way to go but #bbtravelmeetup is definitely doing a great job of getting us all into formation. The ice breakers, competitions, small group and panel discussions do well to keep our travel juices flowing. With two London meet-ups to date (November ’17 and March ‘18, the last being held in East London’s White Post), two West African link ups under their belt (Ghana and Nigeria), and a third London event to follow in May 2018, we are holding Doyin and Hannah personally responsible for introducing us to some real sweet souls who have feet just as itchy as ours, if not more! Some even have blogs and vlogs of their own! If you haven’t been able to make a previous event, firstly make sure you’re there in May. Secondly, get into these amazing blogs and vlogs that we wouldn’t have discovered if not for meeting the content creators themselves at #bbtravelmeetup!
Char of Memoirs & Musings
Click through for Char’s view on the world, from travel, to lifestyle and a generous helping of beauty. You’ll soon learn she has a relatable disdain for public transport in London, will have your instagram captions popping forever, and is incredibly well travelled. Most importantly though, her tweets give us LIFE. We’ve been grounded for all of 2018 so far, but Miss Charlotte keeps us going with her travel discussions on the timeline – check out this one that had us all thinking about what us sorry travel addicts do to keep our travel fires burning.
Temi of The Palateport
Discover the world through Temi’s food recommendations! We haven’t been to LA or San Fransisco yet (you might be aware that New York has a MASSIVE hold on us) but when we do, we’ve got no choice but to plan our way around using Temi’s food guide which features soul food to all day breakfast – is it possible to pack an extra stomach?
Michelle of Michelle Travels
Subscribe and watch Mich live her best entire travel life with her squad in her travel vlogs which are brief, beautifully-shot insights into all the fun and the must-sees of her trips. Having just booked ourselves flights to Madrid, Michelle’s Madrid vlog came just on time! Now to convince the girls that boating in Retiro Park is popped onto our short itinerary…
Annabel of The Woman in Transit
Annabel talks travel whilst trying to “adult”, with her beautifully laid out blog that offers travel tips and guides through the eyes (or finger-tips) of a fellow-Londoner! As mentioned, we’re off to Madrid soon but it was a toss up with Barcelona. Had Barcelona been our chosen destination, Annabel’s guide to the city’s best breakfast spots would have been our main point of reference and we would have started off with the fine eating establishment named ‘Lulu’, naturally! (P.S. adulting is a trap, Annabel – don’t do it!)
Lola of The Reet Petite
If we mention food again, will you notice a trend? Wherever there is food, is where you’ll find us! Lola’s blog is a yummy combination of travel, food and lifestyle with every photo threatening to have your stomach grumbling and mouth watering. Her reviews are practical and honest, like this one of &Suya where Lola concludes her dining experience by rating them on price, atmosphere, food quality and staff. Best of all though, is Lola’s TRP Brunch Club – her answer to the problem that is young professional and creative Londoners trying to maintain a social life while adulting (again with the adulting!). Nothing better than a cheeky bit of socialising over food, right? We can’t wait to join the brunch club this May! Tickets here.
Elisia of Elisia Traveller
Truthfully, we first came across Elisia’s blog on Instagram and then met her IRL at #BBTRAVELMEETUP – her photos are beaut, but after dipping into her blog and reading her travel writing it’s no surprise she is a UK Blog Awards 2018 finalist. When we plan our trips we have a tendency to jump all the way in with our research – the more details, the better. So here we are, downloading Elisia’s very thorough, super handy guide to Cuba prematurely – you know… just in case, for when we eventually get over there!
Don’t miss out on the next meet up! Thursday 24th May 2018
