The year is 2020 and a certain global event has prevented us from doing some of the things we love the most; travelling, and meeting with friends for a good time. However, now that the UK has began to ‘reopen’ we invited some fellow content creators to create some amazing content for a few food & drinks brands with us in the form of a luxury picnic! In doing so, we’ve whipped up an essentials list for you to go ahead and recreate a similar vibe for yourself before picnic season ends!
- A delectable picnic platter
Listen; when you are planning your luxury picnic, some sausage roll packets from Asda ain’t gonna cut it and that’s facts. The spread must look good as well as taste good. You need a mix of sweet and savoury foods and you need them to be presented well. Do yourself a favour and contact @yoursbakefully – this summer, she’s been ahead of the curve by providing ready to go picnic boxes. She provides a sweet box which includes macaroons, cupcakes, blondies, Eton mess and more and there’s a savoury box which includes a crudités platter, sausage rolls and prawn cocktail. She also provides the most divine meat and cheese board, and a fruit platter which are both pleasing to the eye and to the tastebuds!
- Palette cleansing drinks
Equally important as what you’ll graze on at your picnic is what you’ll be sipping alongside each sumptuous bite. The drinks we had at our picnic are:
- Babe* (@drinkbabeuk) – we had the rosé in a can, which was perfect chilled. Another major plus? No bottle opener required!
- Mélange* (@melangedrinks) – light and refreshing vodka-based sodas – exactly what you need on a hot day in the sun!
- Cocktails by Lollipop* (@wearelollipop) – you can bring the bar to you with these ready to drink cocktails. They also come with packeted garnishes to get your drinks IG ready!
- Cup of Tee (@cupofteeuk) – for the alcohol-free and health-conscious among us, these green tea-based smoothies are freshly made and bursting with fruity flavour.
*Only for those of the legal drinking age, obvs. Drink responsibly!
- A popping playlist
Every event needs music, we don’t make the rules. The right songs will set the tone for your picnic, so make sure to choose songs that radiate luxury. Don’t forget to throw your bluetooth speaker in the picnic basket! Check out our review of three speakers we compared here.
- Aesthetically pleasing picnicware
We’re big fans of Poundland, but Poundland ain’t gonna cut it for luxury vibes. Decide on a theme, get some inspo from Pinterest, or save yourself the hassle and get in touch with @sostellarevents. She really worked her magic on our set up. The palettes with the flower and foliage centrepiece – whew! If anybody does luxury, it’s @sostellarevents.
- A picturesque picnic spot
Location! Location! Location! Parks are free for you to have picnics, choose your local or a park that you’ve always wanted to visit and pitch up early and save a good space. The other thing to consider with parks is that not all dog owners will chase after their dog when they come to help themselves at your picnic table – that’s from experience.
- Great company
Here’s the tea; to have good vibes, you need good vibes people. Choose the people who will bring good energy to your picnic, people who are ready to have fun and basque in the luxury you deserve. People who are not afraid to go on their knees or fly a drone to support you to capture your best angles that will set the gram on fire. Good company is key, not just for a picnic but in life, too!
