FENTY SKIN REVIEW – WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN?

I guess I had no choice but to do a Fenty Skin review, while we wait on Rih Rih for the album right? Once it was released in the United States during the summer of 2020 I had wanted to try it, but I would give up at the the checkout at the sight of the shipping cost. I wanted it, but not that bad.

What drove me to Fenty Skin was the branding, the packaging and of course the affiliation with Rhianna. I loved the dream it sold to me – my skin would be clear in 3 simple steps and that would make life so much better.  When I saw it was finally being released in the UK and I could escape the ridiculous shipping cost, I was so excited. It dropped on Boxing Day 2020.

I placed my order from Boots on the launch day, ready to start my new skincare routine – New Year, New Me! I went for the starter kit which gives you a trio of minis so I could try it out and make sure it works for me. The starter set contains a cleanser, a toner serum and a moisturiser and is £32. I like it because it’s 3 steps, very uncomplicated for someone like me who isn’t a skincare enthusiast.

I have very normal skin, perhaps on the dry side but fairly unproblematic. And in terms of routine… what routine? I didn’t have one. I would use a face wash and a moisturiser but that’s about it. I’ve tried in the past to develop a routine but didn’t always stick to it.

The Total Cleans’r Remove -it-all Cleanser

I really love the cleanser as it lathers really well and smells soooo nice (watch out my sensitive skin friends, its definitely not fragrance free). My skin feels really fresh after using it but it doesn’t feel completely dry. It also cleans make up off excellently. I love it, and I’d buy it again.

The ‘Fat Water’ Pore-Refining Toner Serum

This is the baddest b of the set! For me, who wasn’t using any toner or serum before, I like that this is 2-in-1 so I only need to buy one product. It gets its name ‘Fat Water’ due to its texture. It makes my skin feel so plump and prepped for moisturising. I’ll definitely be buying it again. It wouldn’t be a legit Fenty Skin review without trying this since it’s also Rhianna’s favourite step in the routine, too – twinning! The only thing I would say is that the bottle is a hard plastic so it isn’t the easiest to get the product out. I’d still buy it though.

The Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturiser Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

This is good, its lightweight and goes on really nicely after the Fat Water. It also has SPF, and if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from social media is that we should be wearing SPF everyday even if you are staying inside. So again, a 2-in-1 product works really well here. However, a little does NOT go a long way – I found I had to use quite a bit before feeling like my face was well moisturised. I’m not sure I’d buy it again. They do have night cream which isn’t part of the set. I’m yet to try it, but I would.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been enjoying using Fenty Skin to establish a skincare routine. I wrote this review after using it for 4 weeks. I would definitely purchase the cleanser and fat water toner serum again, but I’d probably leave the moisturiser. All their products are vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, and (apparently) is for all skin types. The packaging is refillable, recyclable and contains recycled materials – and that’s on sustainability.
